The Helper City Library presents another Ask the Expert series entitled What’s In Your Water? The causes and impacts of eutrophication on Thursday, June 29 at 6:00 pm at the Helper City Library located at 19 South Main Street.

The free presentation will feature guest speaker Kristi Bear, Soil Scientist at Natural Resources Conservation Service. Before moving to Utah, Bear researched sources of nutrients contributing to eutrophication in Chesapeake Bay, she will bring her knowledge to the evening’s dialogue to state the major causes and consequences of eutrophication. Attendees will learn about methods that citizens, environmental agencies and scientists currently utilize to help minimize this world-wide problem.

The Scofield Reservoir was closed to swimmers and boaters late last summer due to algal blooms. Algal blooms are not only a threat to those recreating in the area; they also negatively impact aquatic ecosystems and economies that rely on fisheries or other aquatic organisms.
