Dylan Olson and Dan Cowan claimed first place in the Second Annual Pleasant Valley Days Horseshoe Tournament Saturday in Scofield.
After suffering a loss early in the tournament, the duo of Olson and Cowan battled through the one-loss bracket to win the championship. Tommy Elkface and Landon Brewer nabbed second place, while TJ Ricks and Russell Morrison finished in second.
Participants battled the heat throughout the tournament, which lasted nearly four hours, to win several prizes that were donated by merchants from around the Castle Country. The top three placing teams later received their awards at the Park Pavilion.
The next horseshoe tournament will take place Tuesday, July 4, in conjunction with SEUPA’s Energy Days at the Carbon County Fairgrounds Event Center. Registration will begin at 3:00 p.m., while the tournament is scheduled to start at 4:00. The cost to participate is $10.00 per team.
