It’s that time again for Castle Country Radio Stations third annual So You Think You Can Sync competition during Price City’s International Days celebration at Washington Park on Saturday, July 29 at 5:30 pm.

This is an entertaining and unique competition as Ann Anderson, Radio Station Office Manager explains, “You don’t have to have any singing because you are just lip syncing it. The only talent you have to have being able to get up on that stage and perform. It really brings out a lot of people to International Days, that area in front of the stage during So You Think You Can Sync, it’s packed, it’s a good time.” The radio station up until three years ago use to do The Country Showdown competition, which was a talent show but it started to lose gas so they decided to try something new.

Individuals and/or groups will have an opportunity to lip sync to their favorite song and a song chosen by the radio station. “We have some songs here at the radio station so when they come to register to compete, they will then draw a song out of the bucket and then they will perform that song as well, but it makes it fun, so that maybe it’s not a song that they necessarily would’ve chosen, but you know to mix it up a little bit,” stated Anderson. All songs are to be no longer than three and one-half minutes and judges have been advised to make deductions on a contestant’s scorecard if their song runs over the allotted time.

“It is a judged event so the more like that you have to the song, whether it’s costumes, props like what I said and of course lip syncing right on with the words, you’re going to get the better score and the more chance to win,” said Anderson. Contestants will be judged in three categories: originality which consists of dance moves, costumes and props, audience appeal and lip sync abilities.

Cash awards will be awarded to the top three individuals and/or groups. Anderson added, “The best thing about it is first, second and third place wins mega bucks, $1,000 for first place, second place is $500.00 and third place is $250.00.” The competition is limited to 12 individuals/groups with spots filling up very quickly. To be a part of this fun event, individuals/groups must register at Castle County Radio Stations located at 1899 Carbonville Road.  Contestants will be required to pay a non-refundable registration fee of $25.00, along with submission of their song of choice, plus blind draw their second song, obtain a copy of judging sheet and rules of the competition.
