Candidates running for a chance to continue on to general elections in November for Municipal Mayoral positions both in Price and East Carbon were determined in Tuesday’s primary elections, as well as, voting to narrow down the three Republican candidates vying for the Congressional District 3 seat.

There were five candidates running for Price City Mayor that needed to be cut down to two individuals. Although, results are un-official it looks as though Michael Kourianos came out on top with 37.97 percent of the votes and not far behind with 20.51 percent is Rick Adams. Falling short at the polls were current City Councilman, Rick Davis at 14.31 percent, followed by Mayor Joe Piccolo with 13.91 percent and finishing with 13.08 percent is Boyd Marsing.

Candidates seeking seats on Price City Council showed current City Council Member, Terry Willis with percentage of 29.08, while Amy Knott-Jespersen with 23.54 percent squeaked by  Joe Christman with 23.00 percent. Closing out the voting were candidates Jesse Slown with 16.98 percent and current council member, Leif Nelson finishing with 7.41 percent.

Results in the East Carbon Mayoral race produced a considerable amount of votes for Harry Goslin Jr at 64.84 percent, while current Mayor Doug Parson brought in 25.00 percent of votes and James Smith who gathered 10.16 percent of votes.

Six candidates campaigned for East Carbon Council this year, Larry Wood brought in 30.14 percent, with Karla Young at 25.05 percent. Close in the voting percentages were Donald McCarty with 16.83 percent and Phillip Holt with 16.24 percent. Remaining candidates, Ella Morris finished with 6.85 percent and Ronald Johnson with 4.89 percent.

At the state level there were three Republican candidates running for Congressional District 3 only one would move on  to general elections. Current Provo Mayor, John Curtis finished with 40.5 percent, followed by Chris Herrod with 31.1 percent of votes, while 38.64 percent and Tanner Ainge came in with 28.3 percent.

Election results are unofficial, final canvass results will be brought in and verified on August 29.
