The Carbon County Fair has been hosting several weekend events leading up to the final weekend of activities. One of the fun events being held is DWR Kids Fishing Day on Saturday, August 26 at 8:00 am to 11:00 am at the Carbon County Community Fishing Pond.

“We’re going to bring lots of poles and lots of bait, so if you don’t have a pole don’t worry come on by and we’ll help you catch some fish,” stated Morgan Jacobsen, Conservation Outreach Manager. “Anybody is welcomed to come use our equipment and catch fish. We still require that people have a fishing license if they’re 12 years of age or older.” Individuals may purchase a fishing license online, the DWR office on Carbonville Road, Walmart and Big 5 Sporting Good.

The pond can be found south east from the fairgrounds main arena. “We’ve been stocking this pond this summer with rainbow trout and people have been catching them all summer. So, it’s a great spot, it’s easy to access, it’s right close to the fair,” said Jacobsen. Although, many residents utilize the pond, DWR pointed out that it could accommodate many more fisherman.
