The Carbon Lady Dinos opened the Region 14 soccer season with 3-2 win over the Union Cougars at home Tuesday afternoon.

Starting the season 1-1-1 in three non-league games, the Lady Dinos used a solid offensive performance in the first division game. Holding a 2-1 lead at the break, Carbon equaled Union’s total in the second half to secure the win.

Elley Cowdell scored her third goal of the season in the win. Ryan Brady found the back of the net for the second time, and Grace Broadbear scored for the first time to help push the offense. The win marked the second time this season that Carbon has scored three goals in a game.

Celesta Graham and Kailee Riser each scored once for the Lady Cougars, who lost for the second time in as many games this season. Union will have an opportunity to even the season series with Carbon when the two teams meet again on September 14 in Roosevelt.

The Lady Dinos will continue the Region 14 season when they return to the field on Thursday in a road tilt with Providence Hall. Thursday’s contest is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m..
