Emery County Commissioner, Keith Brady politely stepped down with just three years of his four-year term under his belt. He submitted his resignation to take effect as of August 25 via statement posted on his website.

Brady has been given an opportunity to move to Sitka, Alaska where he will be the new City Administrator. Although he was planning to run for a second term, he felt this new position being offered was too good to pass up for himself and his family. He believes that Emery County is moving in a positive way to increase economic growth and wishes nothing more for the county to continue on that path.

The unexpected vacancy will need to be occupied by the executive committee of the Republican party who will open the application process beginning now until Monday, September 11; at which time the central committee will meet three days later to vote on the applicants to narrow it down. Once the applicants have been voted on the Emery County Commissioners will make the final decision and introduction on Tuesday, September 19 during their regular meeting.

Emery County residents registered with the Republican party that would like to submit their application may contact the Commission office at (435) 381-3570.
