Habitat for Humanity of Castle Country’s A Brush With Kindness program helped a homeowner in Castle Dale this past weekend restore safety and comfort to his home. After realizing his washing machine had been leaking for weeks without his knowledge, John called Habitat for Humanity for help. By the time the leak had been found, almost all of the sub-flooring in this area had rotted through and John was using a makeshift bridge to access his bedroom.

A Brush With Kindness rarely takes on interior projects.  Our mission with this program focuses on increasing pride and safety through exterior projects. However, after seeing the floor for ourselves, we decided this was a project that could not go unresolved. Luckily, the floor structure was undamaged and a local community contractor, Ted Allen of An Elegant Surface, LLC along with Habitat for Humanity’s Construction Intern, Emilee Wilson, was able to replace the damaged sheathing and flooring.

A Brush with Kindness is a home repair program by Habitat for Humanity of Castle Country. This program offers low interest loans to help homeowners keep their living conditions safe and comfortable.
