The Emery Lady Spartans delivered a dominating performance in the Region 15 opener by topping the North Sanpete Hawks 7-1 Tuesday afternoon in Castle Dale.
Alexis Winter, Jocee Funk, and Morgan Hurdsman all scored two goals, while Sophie Huntington added another in the win. Emery carried a 3-0 lead into the second half, before outscoring North Sanpete 4-1 to close out the game.
Tuesday’s win is the second in three games for Emery as the team moves to 3-2-1 overall. After suffering back-to-back losses against Ben Lomond and Provo the Lady Spartans have won two and finished tied in another over the past three outings.
Emery will look to continue their winning ways when they return to the field on Thursday in a road region tilt against the South Sevier Rams. South Sevier suffered an 8-0 defeat at the hands of the Manti Templars in Tuesday’s region opener.
Thursday’s road contest will be the first of two straight for the Lady Spartans, with the second coming next week against Manti. The next home game will take place September 12 against Grand.
