Castle Country Radio presented yet another check to another cancer assistance program with some of the proceeds made from the Annual Pie Auction held in June. This year’s auction brought in $12,304.00, which was quite a profitable year by those who purchased the pies.
The auction consisted of numerous pies that were donated, along with gift certificates for services and products from local merchants that accompanied the delicious pies. Individuals/businesses would call in to bid on the pies, which at times led to a few friendly bidding wars that just upped ante. All of the funds generated will assist cancer patients in Carbon, Emery and Grand Counties.
The United Way of Eastern Utah was the most recent recipient to be granted a portion of this year’s pie auction proceeds. Executive Director, Cheryl Thayn was presented with a check in the amount of $1,500.00 from Station Manager, Paul Anderson, along with Office Manager, Ann Anderson and representatives from the station’s Sales Department. The money will be used for the LIVE.LOVE.LOCAL program, which assists cancer patients with travel expenses or other expenditures they may acquire while in treatment.
To date, United Way of Eastern Utah has helped over 25 individuals with money that is given directly to them to help with expenses that no other program could assist them in. The program’s ability to serve more patients is severely limited by the amount of funds in the LIVE.LOVE.LOCAL account. The current monetary donation received by Castle Country Radio is much appreciated and will aid in replenishing that account.
