Rita Maurine Jensen Alderson passed away at her home surrounded by her family on September 1, 2017. She was born April 29, 1934 in Huntington, Utah to Alferd Jensen and Ila Woolman on her mother’s new kitchen table. She is the 5th of 8 children, 4 boys and 4 girls.
Rita married Irvan “Bud” Alderson on July 12, 1986 and marriage was solemnized on December 18, 1992 in the Manti LDS Temple.
Rita was an active member of the LDS church in which she served faithfully. She served as a volunteer for hospice for over 12 years. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers. You never told her she couldn’t do something because she would show you otherwise. Rita loved to camp, travel, crochet and spend time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children Nita V. (Charles) Prue of Gunnison, UT, Richard K. Herzet of North Dakota and Drake E. (Trina) Davis of Price, UT; siblings Merle Ann (Ralph) Henley, Karen LaRae Marthower, Keith Devon (LaRue) Jensen and Ruby Valaine Fry; grandchildren, great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild on the way.
Preceded in death by her husband; son Kurt L. Davis; brothers James Alferd Jensen, Alton Lavar Jensen and Vernon Jack Jensen.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rita’s honor to Primary Children’s Hospital or the LDS mission fund. The family would like to thank CNS Hospice for their kindness and service.
A viewing will be held Thursday, September 7, 2017 at the Price Stake Center, 150 South 500 East from 6:00 – 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11:00 am with a viewing from 10:00 – 10:45 am. Interment will follow at the Huntington City Cemetery entrusted to Fausett Mortuary.
