The Carbon Dinos are still in search of its first victory of the football season following a 28-19 loss to the Ogden Tigers at home Friday evening.

Locked in a tight battle throughout the contest, the Dinos saw their opportunity for a win drift away as Ogden scored the lone touchdown of the second half in the fourth quarter. The win improves Ogden to 1-3, while the loss sends Carbon to 0-4.

Nate Olson set a season high mark on the ground despite the loss, finishing with 240 yards and two touchdowns off of 36 carries. Adding another 30 yards through kick returns, Olson finished with 270 all purpose yards for the contest.

Returning to the starting quarterback position after a series of injuries, junior Noah Jones finished 5-16 for 38 yards and two interceptions. Jones also used his legs to help boost the Dinos offense, carrying the ball 12 times for 58 yards and a touchdown.

The Dinos had little trouble moving the football from outside the red zone, accumulating 21 first downs throughout the the game. As a team the offense just missed out on the 400 yard mark, finishing with 395 total.

Friday’s loss ends the non-region portion of the 2017 schedule, grouping the team with Emery and North Sanpete as the only 3A teams without a non-region victory. Carbon will look to notch their first win in the 3A North opener Friday evening at home against Union.
