Many journeyman linemen from all over the nation are headed to Georgia to assist with the electricity outages that were brought on by Hurricane Irma. Rocky Mountain Power of Utah is sending 50 employees from Salt Lake City, Layton, Ogden, American Fork, Cedar City, Moab and our very own Price field office.

Days before their scheduled departure date of Saturday, September 9, the Price workers were busy getting maintenance completed on the service body/pickup, bucket and line trucks to assure safe travels. Not knowing the amount of damage they’ll face, workers stocked the work trucks with the necessary equipment and tools that they felt would be needed to get the job done. The damage from Hurricane Irma could range from repairing and installing fallen utility poles and/or installation of transformers, plus re-wiring fallen lines. Their destination is currently to Macon, Georgia area but it could change at any time depending where support is needed the most.

At this time, Rocky Mountain Power workers do not know how long they will be in Georgia but they do know that their expertise is greatly needed to help restore power to residents.
