The Emery Lady Spartans rebounded nicely from the first region loss of the season Thursday with a dominating 4-1 win over the Grand Red Devils in Castle Dale Tuesday afternoon.
Jocee Funk scored two of the four goals for the Lady Spartans in the comfortable win. Alexis Winter and Sophie Huntington also found the back of the net as Emery improved to 3-1 in Region 15 action.
Holding a 3-1 lead at the break Emery added one more goal in rather slow second half. The win keeps Emery in second place in the division, just one game behind the Manti Templars.
Outside of last week’s 8-0 loss to Manti, the Lady Spartans have been dominate throughout league action. Emery has outscored its opponents 17-2 in region wins over Grand, South Sevier and North Sanpete.
Emery will return to the field on Thursday with a road contest against the Richfield Wildcats in the final game of the first go-around of league play. The Wildcats are currently locked in a third place tie with North Sanpete for third place in the division at 2-2.
