A week after posting its best team score of the season, the Emery Spartans golf team struggled to a last place finish Wednesday afternoon at the home course of the South Sevier Rams.

Ending with a team score of 373, the Spartans finished 23 strokes behind the Manti Templars for sixth. Grand easily claimed first place, while increasing their lead at the top of the standings, with a 304. North Sanpete finished 26 strokes behind for a second place finish, followed by Richfield. South Sevier and San Juan ended ahead of both Manti and Emery.

Jordan Ekker logged the top score of the afternoon for the Spartans with an 86. Oakley Toomer finished right behind with an 89. Shaidyn Killpack, Logan Healy, Taylor Lindsey and Koda Alton all tied for the third and fourth team scores with a 99.

The Spartans remain in last place in the Region 15 standings with only one meet remaining on the schedule. The team will wrap up the golf regular season with the region finale at the Carbon Country Club Golf Course on Thursday, Sept. 21.
