The Carbon Dinos fought through the rain, wind, and cold to claim their sixth straight region victory Thursday afternoon at Canyon Hills Golf Course in Nephi.
Carbon combined for the tournament low team score of 324, topping Union by seven strokes. Providence Hall finished in third with 335, followed by Delta’s 351, and American Leadership’s 371. Juab and Maeser Prep complete the field with sixth and seventh place finishes.
Ryker Smith finished with the low individual score with a 79. Brady Gagon delivered the second low score with a solid 81, followed by Ryan Gagon and Carson Martines who both finished with 82. Zade Carrillo turned in an 84, while Nick Olson ended with a 90. Jordan Penovich posted a score of 94 and Patrick Kardelis completed with 101.
Thursday’s win increases Carbon’s overall lead to 141-strokes going into the last region match of the year, which will be hosted by American Leadership Academy at Spanish Oaks Golf Course on Tuesday.
Following Tuesday’s match the Dinos will prepare to defend the Eastern Utah Cup championship at home Sept. 28.
