The Emery Lady Spartans won for the fifth time in six tries Tuesday night by completing a season series sweep of the North Sanpete Hawks with a 3-1 victory on the road in Mount Pleasant.
Locked in a scoreless tie heading into the second half, the Lady Spartans were dominate throughout the final period of action. Alexis Winter found the back of the net for the 13th time this season, while Sophie Huntington scored for the fourth time this year.
Tuesday’s win marks the third consecutive for Emery, giving the squad a full two game lead for second place in Region 15. Manti remains unbeaten at the top of the standings at 6-0, the only team to top Emery in division action.
The Lady Spartans will return to the field Thursday for another league tilt, this time a home contest with South Sevier. The two teams have met once this season, which resulted in a 6-0 win for Emery back on Aug. 31.
