Dominating on both sides of the field, the Emery Lady Spartans won for the fourth consecutive time with a 5-0 home victory over the South Sevier Rams Thursday afternoon.
Alexis Winter continued her dominate campaign by netting a hat trick. Addy Healy and Morgan Hurdsman helped push the offense by adding one goal a piece.
Emery wasted little time building a lead as they jumped out to a 4-0 lead entering the midway point. The second half was a mere formality as the Spartans cruised to their sixth win in seven tries.
Mileena McElvaney recorded her second shutout of the season from the goal keeper position. The first also came against South Sevier back on Aug. 31 in a 6-0 win.
Thursday’s win keeps Emery within striking distance of a region championship, trailing Manti by one game. Sitting at 6-1 in division play, Emery is need of one win over the next four games to secure at least the No. 2 seed for the upcoming state tournament.
The Lady Spartans will return to the field on Tuesday as they play host to Manti in a game that will decide the region crown. Tuesday’s showdown is scheduled to begin at 4:00 p.m.,
