Castle Country Radio would like to give the public an occasion to get to know their candidates through a Meet the Carbon County Municipal Candidates event. It will be held the first three Tuesdays in October at 5:00 pm in the USU Jennifer Leavitt Student Center’s Alumni Room. Each evening will be featured live on KOAL FM 107.3/AM 750 or live streaming can be viewed on www.castlecountryradio.com
The format for each session will be conducted as a Q&A, the questions presented to the candidates were submitted prior to the event by community members via email. This is a chance for voters to get involved and see where candidates stand on issues in their residing city before the General Election on November 7.
On October 3, Helper City residents will be able to spend an evening getting to know their municipal candidates. The two mayoral candidates are current Mayor Ed Chavez and his opponent, Lenise Peterman; the four individuals running for a seat on the city council is Gary Harwood, Donna Archuleta, Tim Riley and Malarie Matsuda.
East Carbon City residents will have their turn on October 10 to hear from those seeking office. The two mayoral candidates are current Mayor Doug Parsons and his challenger, Harry Goslin Jr.; four individuals are vying for city council, Larry Wood, Karla Young, Donald McCarty and Phillip Holt.
The gathering of Price City candidates will be held on October 17. The evening will feature two political newcomers competing for the mayoral seat, Michael Kourianos and Rick Adams; contenders for city council is Terry Willis, who is currently on the city council, Amy Knott-Jespersen, Joe Christman and Jesse Sloan.
Since the primary elections in Wellington City there has been two write-in candidates for the city’s leadership role, Paula Noyes and Gary E. Rich will join candidate, Joe May; as for city council, Kirk Tatton is singly running for that seat.
Scofield City’s two mayor candidates for head of the city are Mike Erkkila and Ron Richmond; individuals running for city council are Paul Helsten, Scott Holman, Scott Deem and Barbara Leek.
As of today, a date and time has yet to be scheduled for candidates in both Wellington and Scofield.
