The USU-Eastern Theatre Department first performance of the year is entitled Wait Until Dark by Fredrick Knott. The play will take place at 7:30 pm, with the box office opening at 6:30 pm. Stage Manager, Josh Demie gives a summary of the play, “There is a photographer who is given a doll in Canada that we find out right at the beginning of the show has two pounds of heroin in it. The premise of the show is that the photographer loses the doll and the people who gave it to him are looking to get it back.” Although, this is a suspenseful thriller there is some softhearted comedy in the nine-actor show.
The leading role of Susie Hendricks, who happens to be blind, is played by Stansbury High graduate, Veronica Roberts, who explains how she prepared for the role, “Lately we have been blind folding me, which is very difficult, I’m really good at tripping over the set and rug. But that is one aspect that we’ve had to change to make me feel like I’m an actually blind person.” Roberts went as far as using a blind stick to get around campus to magnify the use of her other senses.
There is no strict age limit to attend. The cost is $12.00 for adults, $9.00 for senior citizens, $7.00 for USU-E faculty and staff, $5.00 for children and $3.00 for USU-Eastern students with their current student ID.
In November, the Theatre Department will present the production entitled Blithe Spirit, which is a comic play by Noel Coward.
