The 37th Utah Rock Art Research Association Annual Symposium will be held on Thursday, October 5 through Monday, October 9 in Green River, Utah.
The symposium will consist of two days of field trips, as well as, two days of presentations, along with a day of workshops hat willa be held at the high school located at 400 North 455 West and the John Wesley Powell Museum on Main Street.
Keynote speakers scheduled for the event are Dr. David S. Whitley and Dr. Carol Patterson, along with Glade Hadden who will share their knowledge on all aspects of the subject of rock art.
Whitley holds a Ph.D., M.A., and B.A. and will talk about The Archaeology of Dreams and What It Tells Us About Climate Change. He has 39 years of experience specializing in the prehistoric archaeology and ethnography specifically with an interest in sacred sites, rock art, chronometrics and cultural heritage management.
Patterson and Hadden are BLM archaeologists who will speak about The Mu:kwitsi/Hopi (Fremont) Abandonment and Numic Immigrants into Nine Mile Canyon and Range Creek as Depicted in the Rock Art. Patterson holds a PhD. And RPA and is an author of many books regarding her field of archaeology.
Hadden has 30 plus years of experience as an archaeologist, initially starting as a “dig bum” for the National Park Service and Bureau of Land Management, before becoming a private consultant.
