The First Friday event in Helper will be held on Friday, October 6 beginning at 6:00 pm, with plenty of scary events and activities for the entire family to enjoy on the city’s historic main street. This is a free community event with the only costs to worry about is the fee to participate in the 5K, vendor setup fee and purchasing any food/items that will be sold at the vendor booths.

Guests can enjoy a gallery stroll from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, to see the work of all the talented artists in our area. There will be hay rides from 6:00 pm till 8:00 pm, palm readings with Olivia Dudding Rodriguez beginning at 6:30 pm. There will be also be a chance to do some boo-tiful pumpkin decorating.

Don’t forget to head on over to the Rio Theatre, if you dare, to watch short horror films beginning at 6:00 pm and will run every hour.  Halloween music will be provided by DJ Amanda Holly from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm, for all creatures of the night to enjoy and show off their creepy dance moves. A fire breathing performance by Mark Chavez will be at 8:00 am. An eerie photo booth will be set up to capture all the spookiness of the evening.

There will be a Zombie contest held at 7:00 pm till 8:00 pm, where cash prizes will be awarded to the most gruesome zombie. If you need help getting your zombie on, no worries, Janae Hull is currently taking appointments to do makeup, just call (904) 466-2993 to make an appointment.

Any ghost, goblins and ghouls that would like to participate in the Zombie Run 5K walk/run can register at Clear Creek Adventures on Main Street. Runners/walkers will need to check-in at 8:30 pm, ready to run for their lives at 9:00 pm from the Helper Cemetery, don’t forget to wear your scariest costume. The cost to participate is $10.00 with an event t-shirt and is being sponsored by Pinnacle Canyon Schools.
