Castle Country Radio would like to give voters a chance to get to know their candidates through a series of Meet the Carbon County Municipal Candidates events. The first session will be held Tuesday, October 3 at 5:00 pm at the USU-Eastern Jennifer Leavitt Student Center Alumni Room.
This time around will be different than the Meet the Candidates event held in August for two reasons, all municipal candidates will be in attendance and community members can sit in on the event if they choose. Voters can listen live on KOAL FM 107.3/AM 750 or access the live stream on www.castlecountryradio.com.
Three Q&A sessions are scheduled thus far, with questions that were submitted prior to the event by voters via email. This is an opportunity for community members to get involved, learn where candidates stand on issues before the General Election on November 7.
On Tuesday, October 3, Helper City residents will be able to spend an evening getting to know their municipal candidates. The two mayoral candidates are current Mayor Ed Chavez and his opponent, Lenise Peterman; the four individuals running for a seat on the city council is Gary Harwood, Donna Archuleta, Tim Riley and Malarie Matsuda.
The next two Meet the Carbon County Municipal Candidates will be on October 10 with the East Carbon City candidates and the Price City candidates will be held on October 17. There is no date set for candidates in Wellington City and Scofield at this time.
If voters would like to submit a question to the candidates can do so by emailing election2017@koal.net. As a reminder, not all questions will be presented due to the numbers of candidates and allotted time during each session.
Castle Country Radio would like to recognize and thank the sponsors of this event Castleview Hospital, Carbon County Chamber of Commerce and Utah State University.
