Emery High School senior soccer player Carlie Robinson has been named to the Academic All-State Team by the Utah High School Activities Association and the Deseret News.

Robinson joins a group of 11 soccer players from the 3A classification on the All-State team for the fall season. The group combined for a perfect 4.000 cumulative GPA.

“Carlie has stepped up as a leader on our team this year,” said Emery coach Erik Nielsen. “Her hard work and determination have made her into a quality soccer player, as well as an excellent academic student.”

Robinson is part of a senior group that Nielsen has praised throughout the season. In only the program’s third year of existence the Lady Spartans managed to finish second in Region 15 with a division record of 8-2. The second place finish allows Emery to host an opponent in the opening round of the state tournament on Oct. 11.

While the team continues to thrive on the field, that’s only part of the equation for a student-athlete. Nielsen credits Robinson for leading by example both on and off of the field.

“It has been a privilege to work with her on the field and in the classroom. She is well deserving of the recognition she received by being named to Academic All-State team.”
