Fall weather means cooler temperatures, the leaves begin to change and it’s the season for pumpkin spice madness, more importantly it’s a sure sign that flu season is near. To help protect yourself and your family from the flu, The Pediatric Clinic, along with Southeast Utah Health Department have scheduled a drive-thru Flu Shot Clinic on Saturday, October 14 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Castleview Hospital located at 300 North Hospital Drive.

“This is our first year that we have done a clinic of this sort. We’re going to try and make this as easy as possible, our goal is to have people through in about five minutes and it’s a good way for people to get their flu shot without having to do much and so if we can save them a trip and get them that flu shot this will give them a way,” said Health Department Emergency Manager, Robby Donaldson. This is a unique clinic that is open to everyone, with no appointment necessary, though, children must be six months old or older. This is especially quick and convenient for parents with small children and seniors.

Patients are asked to bring their picture ID, insurance cards and wear clothing that allows access to the upper arm. “If you don’t have insurance there’s $25.00 cost and we’ll work with you on that. After they have filled out all the paperwork, they’ll go right underneath the little awning, in which point one of our nurses will go through and make sure that everybody gets their shots that they need,” stated Donaldson. In addition to protecting the community against the flu, the drive-thru clinic will also test the Health Department’s emergency preparedness capabilities and train the community should a bioterrorist attack or widespread disease outbreak occurs.

If individuals are unable to attend the drive-thru clinic visit the Southeast Health Department located at 28 South 100 South during regular clinic hours Monday, through Thursday from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Any questions or concerns about getting a flu shot can be directed to the Southeast Health Department at 637-3671.
