Castle Country Radio has conducted sessions of “Meet the Carbon County Municipal Candidates” to allow electorates to get to know their residing city’s candidates. The final session will be held on Tuesday, October 17 at 5:00 pm and will be broadcast live on KOAL FM 107.3/AM 750, a live stream can be accessed by visiting our website at www.castlecountryradio.com

This occasion differs from the August Meet the Candidates for two reasons, all municipal candidates will be in attendance and the community is invited to personally sit in on the session inside the USU-Eastern Jennifer Leavitt Student Center Alumni Room.

The evening will be conducted in a Q&A format with Andy Urbanik taking the role as moderator. The questions from the voters have been submitted via email and will be presented to the candidates.  To submit a question to the candidates, voters can send an email to election2017@koal.net.  Due to time restrictions, as well as, the number of candidates in attendance, not all questions will be given

Unlike Helper and East Carbon’s mayoral races, where the city’s current mayor is running alongside a challenger, Price City brings in two political newcomers. Candidates vying for the head of the city seat are Michael Kourianos and Rick Adams, both men have made this a vigorous and competitive mayoral race. Although, the candidates may differ on some issues, they are both eager to do what’s right for the community.

“My passion is to see Price City successful and work with people. I need to put my hat in the ring and be a part of a solution,” said Kourianos.

As for Adams, he says, “I think we live in a wonderful place and I want to see it only get better, so we have a future for our kids. I’m not running for office, I’m running for the citizens of Price City.”

The four city council contenders are made up of a current city council member and three newcomers who will be in attendance to answer questions from voters. Candidates are Terry Willis, Amy Knott-Jespersen, Joe Christman and Jesse Sloan.

This is an informative way to learn where candidates stand on key topics before voting in the General Election on November 7. The event is sponsored by Castleview Hospital, Carbon County Chamber of Commerce and Utah State University. For further information on this event please visit www.castlecountryradio.com
