The Eastern Region Quality Initiative Committee along with Division of Child and Family Services is looking for companies or individuals to assist in gathering or making bags for children in foster care.

There are situations where a child cannot safely remain in their home and must be removed from their home to live with a foster family. The removal from their home can be from neglect, abuse and/or abandonment. The circumstances of a child having to stuff their belongings in a garbage bag, just adds a considerable amount of anxiety to an already traumatic experience.

Organizers are currently looking for companies, groups or individuals that can assist in monetary donations so that fabric, along with fabric markers may be purchased. If you are unable to assist monetary you can still make a difference by offering service hours to sew the bags.

A bag may seem like a small thing, but for a child who has been removed from their home, it gives them a sense of dignity, along with confidence, but more importantly it shows them that someone does care.

To make a donation or if you have questions, call Layne at 820-4326 or Kobi at 650-4114.
