Community Nursing Services, along with Carbon Recreation are delighted to be hosting the first annual Bags ‘n Brews Cornhole Tournament. The proceeds earned from the competition will to the CNS Senior Program. The event will take place on Friday, November 3 at the Carbon County Fairgrounds Event Center located at 450 South Fairgrounds Road.
“We are so excited to do this, we want to have everybody registered by October 25th, just so that we have enough time to put the brackets together, we want to make sure we have enough food,” said Team Assistant, Candace Bradley. “It is $40.00 a team, two-person teams, dinner is served by Sam Farlaino, we’re going to have a deejay, DJ E-Rock and we’re going to have a full bar.” There will be free shuttle service available to get participants home safely at the end of the night.
Admission for spectators to come root for their favorite teams is $12.00 per person and includes dinner. The night will start out with social hour beginning at 6:00 pm, Sam will begin to serve dinner at 6:30 pm and the bags will fly at 7:00 pm. Throughout the evening there will be opportunity drawings held with lots of fun items donated by area merchants.
The proceeds earned will benefit an amazing and unique program through CNS that grants the wishes of elderly hospice patients. “A good example would be, we’ve had a couple of World War II Veterans that were pilots and they want to fly one last time before they pass away. Then there are others that are super small, where we had a little lady that just wanted a shrimp dinner. It can be little or big but we need the funding to keep it going,” stated Bradley. This is a wonderful way for the community to show our oldest generation kindness, respect and admiration.
As of today, there is 41 teams registered ready to battle for one of the top three spots so that they can be awarded one of the great prizes, but more importantly, bragging rights come along with the win. Get your team registered on or before Wednesday, October 25 by calling CNS at 613-8887. If you are unable to attend the tournament but would like to make a contribution towards the Senior Wish Program stop by the CNS office located at 480 South Carbon Avenue.
