HENDERSON, NV – The Utah State Eastern men’s soccer team’s 2017 came to an end on Friday after a 3-0 loss to the College of Southern Nevada Coyotes.

The Eagles lost in the semifinals of the Region XVIII Tournament in Henderson.

CSN got on the board early with a goal from Luis Olandez assisted by Oscar Rodriguez.

The Eagles would hold off the Coyotes for the remainder of the first half thanks to the play of goalie Austin Munoz.

The second goal for CSN would come in the 65′ minute of the game when a header from Juan Rodriguez found the back of the net. Marcos DelAngel-Parra was responsible for the assist on the scoring play.

In the second half, the Eagles could not get the ball to go into the back of the net with a few missed opportunities.

Late in the second half CSN’s Bruno Aleman would put in the final goal of the game with an assist coming from Manny Lopez.

USU Eastern Head Coach Ammon Bennett said after the game that his team came out flat and couldn’t get going against the Coyotes.

“At times today we played good and possessed good but we had opportunities to finish on some but we were just off.  When you are off and its the championship teams will beat you and CSN is a team that that you can’t be off against,” said Bennett.

Now that their season is over, Head Coach Ammon Bennett said that his team will begin to move forward to next season.

“They will take a break from it to recover and they will get in the weight room then play some spring games coming up,” said Bennett.

After the game Bennett, said that he has a lot of work to do in recruiting to replace key sophomores who have been an integral part of his program the last two years.

“We are already recruiting and we have some guys coming in but when you have to replace guys like Paul Zarkin, Kelshall Alexander, Austin Munoz, Jae Partridge, Tristan Booth, Xavier Smith and others, it will difficult because they will be missed and are great kids but we will move forward,” said Bennett.

With the loss, the Eagles finish the season with a 4-13-2 overall record and a 4-7-1 record in conference.
