“We still have all library resources but we also have joined it with the Learning Commons and this is many of the academic accesses that can come through the Learning Commons and Library,” said Team Leader of Learning Commons, Amy Peters. “We have library services and resources, we have academic tutoring access for math and sciences, we have the Aggie Center for enrichment, which is also known as the skills lab.” This is where students can get Math and English skills, plus Microsoft Office Specialist Certifications can been done as well.
Other additions include Communications Commons for students and faculty explorations. A Reflection Room has been developed to allow students, staff and faculty to carry out structured, unstructured meditation, reflection and prayer. “We are adding in a student production space for the individual preparation and group and collaboration projects and we are going to include a maker’s space facility, which is new to our area,” stated Peters.
This has been a three-phase project which started at the beginning of the school year with phase one, which was moving people around including moving the library resources upstairs. The second phase included some further moving around, along with transitioning of the Aggie Center and academic tutors. The final phase will be architectural changes, the extend and details of the cosmetic changes are not yet available.
Print books are still available, including special collections related to the local area, as well as, newly digitalized college yearbooks in the early years of the college. There is also a variety of electronic books including text books that has been made available since the merger with Utah State University. The community is allowed to use the facilities by purchasing a library card for $25.00 which covers an entire year.
