Emery High School senior Addison Healy and freshman Alexis Winter have has been selected to the 2A All-State girl’s soccer team after leading the Lady Spartans to the most wins in the program’s short history.

Winter delivered a standout freshman campaign, leading the team in scoring with 21 goals in only 17 games. Playing forward throughout the season, Winter finished as one of the most prolific scorers in the 3A classification.

Healy, a starting midfielder, helped neutralize opposing teams, while also finding the back of the net three times on the season. Two of Healy’s three goals came in back-to-back region tilts in September against South Sevier and North Sanpete.

Sophomore defender Makieya Bertuzzi also received an honorable mention.

The All-State team selections are voted on by coaches in the classification. The Deseret News selected Morgan senior Logan Duran as the Most Valuable Player from 3A for the 2017 season.

Despite suffering an upset loss in the opening round of the state tournament, the Lady Spartans finished 10-6-1 overall, and 8-2 in region play. A one goal loss to the Manti Templars prevented Emery from securing at least a share of the region crown in only the program’s third year of existence.
