Utah State University-Eastern us participating in The Clothesline Project beginning November 27 at 9:00 am till November 29 at 5:0 pm. This is a visual display that bears witness to the violence against women.

The public lothesline presentation of t-shirts is adorned by explicit messages and illustrations designed by the women survivors of violence or by a loved one who lost a woman to a vicious act. Guests will see the painful experience the women faced with each item of clothing.

The purpose of The Clothesline Project is to increase awareness of the impact of violence against women, to celebrate a woman’s strength to survive and to provide another avenue for women to courageously break the silence that often surrounds this type of traumatic episode.

The Project provides evidence that incest, domestic violence and sexual violence exists in all communities. It is a visual reminder of the statistics that are not taken seriously and often ignored. It allows for a voice to be heard by those who have been forcibly silenced. The hope is to stir up awareness and action from the public to become a part of the solution. In order to do so, the public must be informed so that they are able to recognize the signs and how to prevent violence. By attending the viewing the public shows all survivors support and helps with the grieving process in some cases. Whether the target and/or her family and friends it’s the beginning of the healing process from unimaginable violence. Most importantly, this entire project provides survivors with a venue to courageously break the silence and make us aware, this Clothesline Project is a tribute to them.
