An explosive offensive performance propelled the Emery Lady Spartans to their second victory in as many games with a 79-54 win over North Summit Tuesday night in Coalville, Utah.
Holding a slim 22-16 lead at the end of the first quarter, Emery extended the lead to 15 by the end of the first half. Outscoring North Summit by three in the third period, the final stanza was a formality as the Lady Spartans improved to 2-0.
Junior Megan Jensen poured in a game-high 34 points to lead Emery in the win. Kinlee Toomer also reached double-figures with 14, while Lainee Jensen contributed 13. As a team the Lady Spartans had nine players score at least one-point.
Kennedy McQueen posted a team best 17 points for North Summit, as the Braves dipped to 0-1 on the season. Hannah Lamon chipped in with 15 points, and Vernon Hunter finished with 10.
Emery will continue the non-region portion of the schedule by wrapping up a brief two-game road trip on Thursday against Millard. Millard opened the season last week with a 51-37 victory over Grantsville.
