The Emery Spartans earned their first varsity team victory of the season on the wrestling mat Wednesday night by defeating the Richfield Wildcats 42-34 at home.

Forfeiting four weight classes throughout the night, the Spartans earned eight varsity wins in the ten competing events. Wednesday’s team win comes following a three-point loss to the Union Cougars last week in the season opener.

Emery will continue the wrestling season on Friday as the team travels to a two-day tournament at Salem Hills. The next home on Tuesday, Dec. 12 against Duchesne.
