The Carbon Lady Dinos finished 2-1 during a three game road trip Thursday, Friday and Saturday in Fruita, Colo.

In final preparation before the beginning of Region 14 play on Tuesday, the Lady Dinos easily claimed victories on Thursday and Friday, before dropping the weekend finale. Carbon’s overall record now sits at 5-2 following the weekend trip.

The Lady Dinos used an early burst of offense to easily defeat Grand Junction 53-25 in the first game of the tournament Thursday afternoon.

Kelsey Sorenson led the way for Carbon, scoring a game-high 27 points in the team’s fourth consecutive win overall. Jodi Noyes recorded the game’s lone double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds, while Jordan Bianco scored nine of her 12 points from beyond the three point line.

Carbon returned to the court the following day and delivered a similar result, this time blasting Palisade 50-16.

Again using a productive first quarter, Carbon held Palisade to a single point going into the second period. The domination defensively continued throughout the game as Carbon allowed just six points in the second, four in the third and five and in the fourth.

Sorenson again led the team in scoring, once again finishing with 12. Noyes and Bianco both finished with nine, while Abbie Saccomanno ended with eight.

Unable to sweep the weekend Carbon suffered a loss in third and final game falling to Fruita Monument 49-32.

Saccomanno provided the Lady Dinos with consistent scoring, registering 13 in the setback. Bianco finished with six and Noyes ended with five.

With the three-game road trip now in the books, the Lady Dinos will prepare for the Region 14 opener on the road Tuesday evening against Juab. The week will come to a close with another road league tilt, this time against Providence Hall on Thursday.
