On December 11 choirs from Carbon High School presented choral Christmas music in their auditorium for the public to enjoy.

And they didn’t disappoint.

From the beginning notes of the program to the end when the combined choirs and the audience joined in singing One Bright Star, the songs performed were beautiful and well done.

The program began with Carbon High’s Choral Director Arthella Williams introducing the Mixed Choir which performed Bidi Born and Jingle Bell Rock. Soloists included Bryce Judd and Jaylee Adderly with the tambourine by Madison Dozhier and bells by Micheal Willson.

Next came the Mens Choir, performing Personent Hodie, Blue Christmas, and A Holly Jolly Christmas.  The bells were performed by Summer Atherly, and Blue Christmas had a special sound with Blake Grundy as soloist, percussion by Jason Manchester and the string bass performed by community member Andrew Lasslo.

The Musettes, an all women’s choir with beautiful voices, sang the Joy of Mary, Ring, Little Bells, Ring and Once Upon a December.  Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas featuring Sally Shepard and Christmas Time is Here sung by Jessa Holyoak, Grace Broadbear and Makara Morgan were specials songs sung around the other three the choir performed.

A special appearance by the Chipmunks singing Christmas Don’t Be Late was done to the delight of the audience. The “Chipmunks” were actually seniors Makara Morgan, Jessa Holyoak and sophomore Grace Broadbear. All are members of the Vocal Jazz group.

The Concert Choir performed We Need A Little Christmas, Silent Night, and The Joy of Bells with Kyler Ashby doing vocals on Hallelujah.

And then there was the Vocal Jazz group. They did a variation on the Nutcracker Suite called Nutcracker Jingles. They also sang Silver Bells, Angels We Have Heard on High, The Christmas Song   and Veni, Veni Emmanuel. The  lead vocalist was Trinalee Hatch, with percussionists Summer Atherly, Derek Hunsaker and Rebecca Martin aiding in the songs.

Finally the combined Concert Choir and Jazz Choir sang Bethlehem, Bethlehem and Brightest and Best. The vocalists on these songs were McKayden Fincher, Addy Taylor, Bethany Prettyman, Behtan Stefanof and Jessa Holyoak. The drums were performed by Summer Atherly. Sring Bass and Violinist for the songs were community members Andrew Lasslo and Jana Hoyt.

All in all it was a concert that will not be forgotten by the parents and friends that attended and certainly not for the students that performed.
