The Carbon Dinos improved to 2-0 in Region 14 play by easily defeating Providence Hall 56-40 Friday evening at home.
Coming off of a double-digit victory over Juab on Wednesday, the Dinos delivered a consistent four quarter performance in the win. The crisp ball movement opened up the three-point shot, which Carbon connected on seven times, compared to just two for Providence Hall.
Jordan Vasquez posted a season best 19 points, including five makes from deep, to lead the Dinos in the win. Collin Lewis provided a solid second option with 14 points, while Derek Hillam finished with 11.
Marcus Sherwood led the way for Providence Hall, scoring a team best 15 points in the setback. Boston Douglas scored seven points and grabbed six rebounds. Parker Green and Preston Brinkerhoff both finished with five points.
After starting the season with a struggling 1-6 mark, the Dinos have managed to climb to the top of the Region 14 standings with a 2-0 start. The only other team to equal the division start is Union, who has secured wins over Maeser Prep and Delta.
The Dinos will return to the court on Wednesday with an opportunity to enter the Christmas Break 3-0 in league play. After playing at home over the past two games, Carbon will travel for an important meeting with the Delta Rabbits.
