The USU Eastern Lady Eagles extended their winning streak to six with a 71-48 win over Treasure Valley Community College Wednesday afternoon in Las Vegas, Nev.

Freshman Brooklyn Barrus poured in a game-high 25 points, 21 of which came from the three-point line, to lead the Lady Eagles to the win.

Kaitlin Toluono recorded a double-double by scoring 14 points to go along with a game-high 17 boards. Autumn Kay also notched a double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds.

Holding a 37-28 lead at the end of the first half, USU Eastern took complete control of the contest by outscoring Treasure Valley 16-2 in the third quarter. Defensively the Lady Eagles held Treasure Valley to a pedestrian 29-percent from the three-point line, while also allowing only eight offensive rebounds.

Wednesday’s win moves USU Eastern 12-3 overall on the season, and 5-2 at neutral sites. The non-conference mark is currently the third best in the highly competitive Scenic West Athletic Conference.

The Lady Eagles will resume action in the Las Vegas tournament Thursday evening against Lake Region State College. The final non-conference contest will take place Saturday against Grand Canyon University in the tournament’s finale.
