A perfect first half defensive effort was more than enough to propel the Carbon Lady Dinos past Maeser Prep in a 54-13 Thursday evening at home.

Using a lethal full-court press for the majority of the first half, Carbon kept Maeser Prep off of the scoreboard for the entire first half. Holding a 32-0 lead going into the third quarter, the Lady Dinos cruised to the easy win.

Kelsey Sorenson led nine other Carbon players who scored at least one point with a game-high 16. Jodi Noyes finished with 10, while Makenna Blanc notched eight.

As a team the Lady Dinos did most of their damage from inside the perimeter, converting 16 of their 19 field goals from two-point range. Maeser Prep was held to just five field goals throughout the game, three of which were from the three-point line.

Thursday’s win moves Carbon to 3-1 in Region 14 play, and marks the third consecutive win after losing the opener to Juab. The team will look to keep their winning streak alive on Tuesday with a road tilt against the Union Cougars.
