The Carbon Dinos continued to roll through the early portion of the Region 14 slate with a dominating 64-34 win over Maeser Prep Friday evening in Lindon.
Junior Derek Hillam delivered his best offensive performance of the season, posting 23 points as the Dinos improved to 3-1 in region play. Ryan Gagon finished with 17 points, and Jordan Vasquez contributed 12.
Sam Garrison led Maeser Prep with 14 points as the team slipped to 1-2 in division action. Maeser did the majority of their offensive damage from the three point line, hitting eight of the team’s 13 makes from deep.
Despite the struggles in non-region action, the Dinos have found success early in division play. Trailing the Union Cougars by just one game for first in the region, Carbon will have an opportunity to move into a first place tie with a win when the two teams meet on Tuesday.
Stepping out from the traditional Wednesday/Friday region schedule, the Carbon boy’s team will travel alongside the Carbon Lady Dinos for a double-header set with Union on Tuesday. The first action is set to begin at 5:15 with the girls, and the boys will follow immediately after at 7:00.
