The Emery Lady Spartans moved to 2-1 in Region 14 play with a dominating 76-25 win over the North Sanpete Hawks Tuesday evening in Mount Pleasant.
Playing in the last of three straight region road contests, Emery wasted little time developing a hefty advantage by outscoring North Sanpete 26-4 in the opening quarter. That lead extended to 46-13 at the end of the first half.
Senior Lainee Jensen delivered a season-high 26 points that included six makes from the three-point line. Kinlee Toomer finished with 20 points, while both Megan Jensen and Hailey Allred scored seven.
As a team Emery converted 33 field goals compared to just 10 for the Hawks. The hefty advantage throughout the game allowed Emery head coach Lynn Tuttle to move deep into his bench as nine players scored at least two points.
Tuesday’s win brings an end to a lengthy road swing for Emery that began back on Dec. 15 against Springville. The Lady Spartans will now play five of their next six league games at the Spartan Center, beginning Thursday against the Manti Templars.
