The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce held their 2018 Installation and Awards Banquet on Thursday evening at The Tuscan Event Center. Those in attendance for the dinner and awards ceremony were members of the Chamber Board, business owners and their employees.

Guests enjoyed a social hour of networking and silent auction bidding before being treated to a delicious dinner catered by Main Street Grill. After dinner the awards ceremony began with words shared by outgoing Chamber President, Robert A. Oliver, who took time to introduce the newly appointed Chamber President, Ryan Murray to the audience. Both men remained at the podium to make the award presentations that were decided by the Chamber’s Executive Board.

The awards are given to highlight individuals and businesses who made great strides and contributions to the community during the 2017 year. The Outstanding Board Member was presented to Colleen Loveless, owner and operator of Love-Less Ash Company. She has been a member of the chamber for many years and will now step into the roll as the new Vice President. She is looking forward to a successful year with her newly appointed duties.

The Small Business of the Year Award was presented to the Balance Rock Eatery and Pub located in Helper. Owner and operator, Cindi Curry graciously accepted the prestigious award and looks to proudly display it at her establishment.

This year the recipient of the Community Service Award was given to Alida Farlaino, owner and operator of TougHer Gym. The business showed exceptional service to the community through its various fundraisers that were organized and held during the past year.

The business who has showed exceptional growth and innovation was presented as the Big Business of the Year Award. That top honor this year was bestowed upon brothers, Frank Jr. and Tim Peczuh who are both owners and managers of Peczuh Printing.

A special award was made this year to Frank Ori, Director of Carbon County Recreation. The President’s Award was given to Ori for his many contributions to the community. Accepting the award on his behalf was his sister, Shani Ori who talked about growing up with Frank and his love for the community. He currently is recuperating from a stroke  he suffered in December.

The evening closed with the introduction of the 2018 Chamber Executive Board, which will be Ryan Murray as President, Colleen Loveless as Vice President, Jana Hopes as Treasure, Kerrie Barker as Secretary.

Announcement of winners for the silent auction were presented and the proceeds will benefit Carbon Caring for Kids.
