The Emery Lady Spartans continued to take care of business by winning their fifth consecutive region contest by double-digits, topping the San Juan Broncos 71-35 Thursday evening in Blanding.
Megan Jensen led all scorers with 22 points in the blowout win. Lainee Jensen continued her hot shooting streak with 16 points, and Kinlee Toomer finished with 11. Again clearing the bench, Emery had eight different players score at least two points.
Emery wasted little time developing a comfortable lead, outscoring San Juan 34-5 in the opening quarter. The final three quarters were a formality as the Lady Spartans won by 30 or more points for fourth time during the region season.
Madi Palmer scored a team high 11 points for the Broncos. Delaney Palmer finished with seven and Kelesha Gray added six. The loss dips San Juan to 2-3 in Region 15 play, placing them fourth in the top heavy division.
Now 5-1 in division action, Thursday’s win for Emery sets the stage for a potential region championship contest with Richfield on Tuesday.
After dropping the region opener on the road to the Wildcats, the Lady Spartans currently trail Richfield by one game for the top spot in the region.
