The Carbon Lady Dinos earned a monumental division win Tuesday night by  topping the Juab Wasps 50-40  at Carbon High School.

Holding a slight 11-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, Carbon took complete control in the second as they outscored the Wasps 13-4. The double-digit advantage held firm the majority of the final two quarters as Carbon clinched the win.

Kelsey Sorenson posted a game-high 14 points to go along with five rebounds and three steals to lead Carbon in the win. Abbie Saccomanno scored 10 points and accumulated four steals, while Jordan Bianco chipped in with nine.

Now 6-2, Tuesday’s win moves Carbon into a tie for second place with Juab in the Region 14 standings. The two teams split the season series as each team protected home court.

Baylie Heap led Juab in scoring with 13 points as she converted one of the team’s two makes from the three-point line. Hannah Robbins also finished in double-figures, ending with 10 points.

Carbon will continue the league slate on Thursday with a home contest against Providence Hall.
