The Emery Lady Spartans outscored the South Sevier Rams by 21 points in the second quarter to cruise to a 60-41 victory Thursday night at the Spartan Center in Castle Dale.
Up 10-5 at the end of the first quarter, Emery outscored South Sevier 27-6 in the second stanza. The final two quarters were a formality as the Lady Spartans improved to 7-1 in region play with their seventh straight win.
Megan Jensen posted 17 points, eight rebounds and two steals to lead Emery in the win. Lainee Jensen scored 15 points and handed out six assists to help push the offense. Kacelynn Toomer finished with 11 points and four boards, while Kinlee Toomer contributed five points and nine assists.
Nine different Emery players finished with at least one point as the team shot a consistent 46-percent from the field. Adding to the impressive offensive performance, every Emery field goal came off an assist.
Kenzie Jones scored 17 points for South Sevier in the loss. Mattie Blackburn chipped in with 10 and Brookell Brindley ended with seven.
Thursday’s win keeps Emery locked into a tie with Richfield for the top spot in Region 15 with only four games remaining.
The Lady Spartans will return to the court on Tuesday for the second meeting of the season with North Sanpete. The first ended in a 79-25 blowout in favor of Emery back on Jan. 9.
