The Carbon Dinos suffered their fifth consecutive loss with a 67-46 setback on the road against the Providence Hall Patriots in Herriman Friday night.

After outscoring the Patriots 13-10 in the first quarter, the Dinos fell victim to a 37-15 run between the second and third periods. During the time of Providence Hall’s major run, Carbon was held under 10 points in consecutive quarters.

Derek Hillam finished with a team best 15 points as Carbon dipped to 3-6 in region competition. Ryan Gagon scored 12 points, and Ty Anderson finished with 11. Colin Lewis connected on two shots from deep to score six points, and Jordan Vasquez ended with two.

Boston Douglas lifted the Patriots with a monstrous performance, scoring 27 points, while grabbing seven rebounds, five assists and four steals. Marcus Sherwood finished with 15 points, and Jacob Johnson contributed seven.

The loss puts Carbon in fifth place in the division at 3-6 in league play. The win moves Providence Hall into a three-way tie with Delta and Union.

Carbon will have an opportunity to end their current five game losing skid when they return to the court Wednesday against Maeser Prep. Wednesday’s league tilt is the first of three straight home games to end the regular season.
