The Emery Spartans completed the wrestling season with a fifth place team finish at the State Championship Tournament Friday and Saturday at Utah Valley University in Orem.
Represented by 15 total wrestlers, the Spartans ended fifth in overall team scores with 128 points. Juab was the overwhelming champion with 304, followed by Delta’s 224.5. Morgan and Union finished third and fourth in the field of 16 schools.
Gus Dalton logged the highest individual finish for Emery, going 3-1 on his way to a second place finish in the 152-pound weight class. Korby Christiansen and Newt Oveson both finished third in the 113 and 170-pound divisions.
