The Carbon County Senior Center is looking forward to a jam-packed spring schedule of fun events, not only for the seniors but for the entire community.
On Wednesday, February 28 is the monthly birthday lunch where seniors who have birthdays during the month of February can enjoy a delicious lunch including cake and ice cream, plus they are allowed to invite family members to attend the luncheon too.
During the month of March, there will be St. Patrick’s Day dress up where seniors can wear their most favorite green attire. This year the holiday falls on a Saturday but seniors can dress up the day before. On March 28 is Wacky/Crazy sock day, seniors are encouraged to show off their most unique pair of socks on this day.
April is a busy time for the Senior Center with activities opened up to the entire community. “We are going to have a Book and Puzzle Sale, that’s April 9 through April 13, it’s a full week,” said Director, Debby Kobe. “We have our Card Party, this is our biggest fundraiser of the year, we have a spaghetti dinner with it.” The public is invited to attended this event that starts at 12:00 pm till 4:00 pm at the center. There will be food, opportunity drawings, card games and homemade baked goods for sale. The sale of books start at $.25 each or 5 books for $1.00, hardback books start at $.50 a piece.
On Saturday, April 28 the center’s annual 3K/5K Fun Run/Walk will take place with a participation cost of $15.00 per person which includes an event t-shirt. Any questions on this particular event can be directed to the Carbon County Recreation Department at (435) 636-3702.
Future events include the senior’s annual summer picnic that will take place at Little Bear Campground in Huntington Canyon on June 15 at 12:00 pm. The center will provide a nice sandwich, pasta salad and ask that seniors bring their favorite potluck item to share.
A date for the Second Annual Bazaar has been scheduled for Saturday, October 13 and vendor space is very limited. Any vendors who wish to be a part of this year’s bazaar are urged to get in touch with the center at (435) 636-3202 for more information.
