UPDATE:
On March 8, 2018, the vehicle involved in the Auto/Pedestrian accident that occurred in Grand County on the above date has been located. The Grand County Sheriff’s Office thanks the public for their response to the initial press release and subsequent contact with this office. The information received assisted this office to locate the vehicle involved in this accident. The accident investigation is ongoing and no other information is available at this time.
ORIGINAL STORY:
On March 4, 2018, shortly before 7:00 a.m. a motorist discovered a body at Milepost 140 on SR 191, 12 miles north of Moab. The body of 50-year-old, Cheryl G. Zimmerman from Lakewood, Colorado, was located a short distance from a vehicle parked at the location.
A white SUV that was southbound at that location had pulled off the roadway and parked. The decedent sometime in the early morning hours was struck outside her vehicle by another vehicle that was southbound at that location. The vehicle that struck did not remain at the scene of the accident.
The Grand County Sheriff’s Office and Utah Highway Patrol are investigating the accident and are attempting to locate the vehicle involved in this accident. The vehicle involved is suspected to be a white semi-tractor with damage to the right (passenger) side front. The cause of the accident is under investigation at this time.
