The Soroptimist International of Price is taking time to celebrate International Women’s day on Saturday, March 10 from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the Carbon Country Club located at 3055 North Highway 6 in Helper. The group would love for anyone interested in learning about the organization to take this opportunity to enjoy a few hours of fun, inspiration, and service.

The current members will be making comforting care packages and guests are invited to assist. The packages will be given to women within the community who may be going through some tough times. This could be battling a life-threatening illness, escaping abuse or recovering from sexual violence.

Currently, the group is looking for donations to put into the care packages like Chapstick, small hand cream, and fuzzy socks. Other items they can use is old magazines, craft items to create custom postcards i.e. glue sticks, scissors, ribbon, stamps, stickers etc. Donations can be made by calling Rebecca Mason at (435) 650-4028.

The name, Soroptimist, means “best for women,” and that’s what the organization strives to achieve. Soroptimists are women at their best, working to help other women to be their best. SI Price is part of this larger international service organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls within the community and beyond. The club is a nonprofit organization established in the area 64 years ago by the late Helen Oliveto Smith.

If individuals are unable to attend the social day of service they may learn more about Soroptimist International of Price by visiting their Facebook page or attend one of their monthly meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at 6:30 pm at the Carbon Country Club.
